Anyone have any ideas or ideas for a gun rack that i can build that will fit in a closet. Needs to hold 4 rifles. During deer season at camp it tends to get crowded, and I looking for a way to store the guns at the end of the day. (putting them in a case under the bed is a pain) I would like to build a small rack for inside the closet, that can hold the rifle, but still let me hang the hunting outfits.
Thanks for any ideas!

Depends on how deep the closet is.
If there's room in the back, build a vertical rack. Top board has cut outs for the barrel and bottom is flat with a slight rearward lean to it, you could also add a rail to the front of the lower board for added security.

I have plans that I designed for a vertical rack.
It is 28" tall 11" deep and 25.5" wide.
It was designed for 8 guns but could easily be adjusted for 4 guns which would cut the width in half.

PM your email and I will send them to you.

I have a "gun closet" built into my walk-in closet to store all my guns. The butts sit the floor an lean against a rest attached to the wall. To make the rest that I took a 1x4 and drilled 2 inch holes with a hole saw equal distance apart up the center of the board. The board is then ripped in half. This leaves you with 2 boards with half moon shaped rests, which after some sanding, staining and finish are lined with green felt to protect the rifles. I just screwed them to the wall studs. My little closet has spots for 16 rifles.

Walmart sells Stack-on gun cabinets that will fit in your smallest of closets. Screw them to the wall studs and floor, viola.

I found this sight when looking for plans for a gun rack. I build a vertical rack with sides based on the plans, customized to include a large storage area below, and built wooden ammo boxes to fit the area below. I added felt on the top rack and on the bottom where the guns rest. I made a few other minor tweaks. Lot's of good layout ideas on that site. One change I'd make in hindsight for looks, is to have the top rack that holds the barrel sit on top of the top of the sides, rather than in between the top of the sides.
