Personally, Lowrance is all I use.

ETA: It's a hummingbird and they've been around for quite awhile. If the price is right and you don't want to drop the money on a better unit, it should get the job done.

The lower end units now-a-days are decent. Resolution is the big drawback to them. Depending on what you want to do you may find yourself looking to upgrade. If all you're looking for is depth and contour changes the low end finders are fine. They do start lacking when you're looking for structure and fish.

Any finder would be fine for contours, but you won't find any that will read bottom temps. A lot will give you surface temps but to read temps at depth you will need something like a Sub-troll.
