I actually prefer rifle season anymore. Archery season is nice, but it's just too easy. The season is very long and I just got tired of the same old cookie cutter stuff. Put in your time, wait for a decent buck to walk by, shoot it, repeat. Everyone who I know who consistently kills bucks does it in archery season. I do not know a single person who shoots a buck every year in rifle season.
I actually switched back to rifle season for a greater challenge.
I actually prefer the Sat and Sun openers because that's all anyone hunts. By noon Sunday the woods are empty and you have the rest of the season to yourself. I see deer out feeding in fields by the end of the first week. I've gotten my buck the second week of rifle season each of the last two years. Quite frankly, I am enjoying it more now.
