Like most of us, I enjoy good pasta as a side to venison dishes. I've been eating mainly whole wheat spaghetti and I had found one in the Commissary that I thought was particularly good. One day while shopping I went to get some but they were out of the whole wheat so I picked up one of the same brand's white spaghetti. When I went to put it in the cart I noticed some writing on the package that wasn't on the wheat package.

Yep, that's what it says "We Support The Humane Society of the United States." I promptly put that package back on the shelf on took a different brand. The Gourmet Italia pasta may be very good, but I will not spend my money on a product whose company openly supports this anti-hunting organization.
I did some research on them today, and it seems their main marketing and distribution are the European military commissaries, with hopes of getting into the US commissaries.
I don't know if this company's products are available in regular US supermarkets, but if they are I strongly suggest you don't buy their products, and encourage writing to them via their Contact Us at their webpage.

This is what I sent them today. I'll post their reply if I get one.
Sir/Ma'am,
I am writing to express my concerns over your stated support for the Humane Society of the United States. First though let me say that I have eaten, and enjoyed, your spaghetti. However, I will not support any company that supports HSUS.
HSUS is not about supporting local animal shelters, as they lead people to believe. Rather their stated goals are to eliminate hunting and animal farming, period. On your website you state your support for them based on "For ethical and environmental reasons we believe that cruel, chemical, industrial farming should be replaced by humane, organic farming." But I have never seen anywhere that HSUS does anything, good or bad, that would be representative of your statement.
I encourage you look into how HSUS spends the funds that you donate to them. You may be surprised to learn that very little of it goes to anything that works toward your stated reasons for giving them support.
I am a hunter and an outdoorsman. I eat meat. But as long as you continue to advertise your support for the HSUS, my venison meatballs will not be served with Gourmet Italia pasta.

Thank you,

So many still believe the HSUS is their local animal shelters.

From what I could get from their FB page, they're in the US commissaries in the states and trying to expand from there. They've got a large selection of products in the commissaries in Europe already, even the sea salt I was using for mineral licks in the hunting area is their brand. Maybe I'll let them know about that too
