Really? I can't immagine any gun being designated as a states official gun. Especially this state and under the administration of Fast Eddie Rendelli; the same guy who said that if he could - he would not permit PA residents to even own a baseball bat.
i heard it on the news today here in sixburgh!
we would be the only state with an official gun, which I think is kinda cool
Secret,

Is this official? Where can we find this information?

As the only state still offering a special Flintlock Season, this designation simply confirms the uniqueness of flintlocks built across the southeastern part of Pennsylvania.

Of course, I feel the Roman nose look of a Berks County comb should represent this official State rifle.

they said that the Pa long rifle is so unique that it was the only choice to be made. hasnt passed the house yet but they said its looking good! i think green mountain got out at the wrong time! buy your barrels quick im sure they will get pricey soon!
it came across the wire this morning... i heard it on 2 radio stations ... ive been looking for it everwhere... cant find the link....its out there !
what do you mean the southeastern part of the state?
BerksCoflinter,

That berks Roman nose profile didnt come along till much later in longrifle development.

But I know what you mean I also like the looks of that Berks-Reading Profile.

Nuge, I'll bet you thought it would be the Remington 760 lol!

There were beautiful long rifles built through out most of the state during the Golden Age. Snyder, Union Huntingdon counties, Bedford, even up toward the NY border. Not just Lancaster, Berks and Lehigh.

I think it is great and was quoted on channel 43 10 pm news last week about it.

We should do it quick before the Kentuckians beat us. Bad enough they put their state to the common term for such guns. It isn't like they were a hot bed of gun building.

Maybe the designation would help us keep the modern rabble out of our FLINTLOCK season!

Never heard them called a PA machine gun before, but my Dad has said a few times that when I shoot at deer that he knows its not a bolt-action shooting. :)

I think making the long rifle the office PA State Riffle is a great ideal. It would help show off the history of our state. Plus any law that is not anit-gun is a good thing.
Yea,it would be very cool if that happens!
I agree, we have to finalize it before Kentucky steals this from us too
not only would we make history the gun is our history!!!!!
