This is a request for co-sponsorship by Rep Metcalfe. it mirrors a Wyoming law to protect citizen rights for gun ownership and use in opposing any federal gun ban.

MEMORANDUM

Posted: January 11, 2013 04:12 PM

From: Representative Daryl Metcalfe

To: All House members

Subject: Right to Bear Arms Protection Act

I am currently having legislation drafted that is similar to firearm legislation recently introduced in Wyoming. My legislation would prohibit the enforcement of any new federal restriction, prohibition or registration requirement for firearms, magazines, and ammunition. My legislation would also require the state to intercede on behalf of Pennsylvania citizens against any federal attempt to register, ban or restrict the purchase or ownership of firearms and firearms accessories which are currently legal products.

I hope you will join me in defending the Second Amendment in Pennsylvania.

If you have any questions, please contact Nicole Wilbourn at [email protected] or 717-783-1707.

It is important to let our legislators know we are watching even before a bill is filed. Letting them know we want them to cosponsor - or not, a pending bill shows an enhanced interest and understanding of what is going on.

Making them aware that as you watch legislation - the other eye is indeed on them..... as is our responsibility as citizens.

Phoned in and women taking his calls on this was busy so I left my phone number.. 20 minutes later she called back and I told he that I appreciated his effort to preserve the rights of the citizens of Pennsylvania on this as well as his past record of support of the 2nd amendment.

She was very pleasant to talk to and said that the office has received a LOT of emails concerning this, and the overwhelming majority support this. Hopefully we can get past the anti gunner reps from the Philly area and get this passed REAL soon... so call or email.......

A personalized note sent...
(sometimes comparing to their personal crusades gets their attention)

This is a request for co-sponsorship of a bill about to be introduced by Rep Metcalfe.
It mirrors a Wyoming law to protect citizen rights of gun ownership and use by opposing any federal gun ban.
I urge you to support and co-sponsor his efforts. Legislation of this type will serve to send a clear message to Washington.

Banning or restricting firearms due to cosmetic features or arbitrary capacity limits will have no meaningful impact on crime.
This approach has been tried in the past and has been shown by government agencies to have no meaningful impact on crime.
In the recent horrific events, numerous laws were broken. Clearly the existence of laws prohibiting those horrific acts were not a
deterrent to the criminals who committed those acts.

If the legislature wants to pass meaningful legislation, amend the current laws to force judges and prosecutors to actually enforce
the laws as they were intended. Suspended sentences, dropped charges in exchange for guilty pleas on lesser offenses, all
contribute to the crime problem. Placing additional restrictions on law abiding citizens will have no impact on crime because law
abiding citizens do not commit serious crimes. All it does is provide pathetic opportunities for politicians to say "they did something".
Doing something useless is worse than doing nothing at all.

Giving even a little on this issue of "gun control" in spirit of compromise is not acceptable. You of all people should know how all this
works. You have always been opposed to gambling in Pennsylvania. Gambling was made legal based on what you knew were lies.
It was stated, pushed for, and sold to the public under the premise of being very limited and only allowing for slot machines. I knew,
as did you, that table games would be permitted. Casinos were built with table games already planned for. Now that everyone has
become used to casinos in Pennsylvania, passing legislation to allow table games is a simple matter. Gun control is being pushed
for under the lie of "reasonable restrictions", once that precedence is set, incrementally increasing the restrictions gets easier.

Don't fall for or give into to this charade. If you want to do something about crime, deal with the criminals, not law abiding citizens.
Again, I urge you to support and co-sponsor Representative Daryl Metcalfe's efforts. Below is the text of his memo, which you should
have already received from him.

Respectfully,
