While scouting around this morning in the beautiful springtime weather of the Laurels I found this bearded hen showing her whiskers off to two ole' longbeards this morning.

I have a question to add to this picture. How many hunters would harvest a bearded hen?

I've shot one with an extremely small beard maybe 1/2 inch in the fall season. It was just poking out of the feathers. And I've seen one other one that had a 3 in beard, but nothing like in this pic! I think they are pretty rare.

I'm excited for the season to open up! A few days ago I was driving by a field with some toms about 25 yards off the road. I gobbled to them and they gobbled right back. And a Friend got a tom to shock gobble the other day with is car horn. Hope they are that hot when the season opens!

It's getting closer! Can't come soon enough!

I killed 6 bearded hens and all have 7in or longer beards.

Is it really scouting when you're watching a feeder?

I'm not sure if I would ever shoot a bearded hen in the spring. Fall without a doubt.

Nice Pictures, I drove through the Laurels yerterday going to Penn State and was shocked at how much snow you guys still have. It looked a foot deep in some places
