Pa AR changes pos

i want JR hunters to abide by the antler restrictions and no more sharing tags, no more mentored youth. let them abide by the same rules we had growing up. Jr hunters arent special, let them learn like we did. wait until your 12th year to hunt.

because they are being treated differently and dont have to abide by AR's, they are killing way to many small bucks.

antler restriction for all, regardless of age. and no reduced price licenses. no one group should be treated any better / different than the other ones.

then why do people think removing restrictions from seniors will impact the herd

because they will shoot the small bucks just like the seniors if they remove restrictions for them. if seniors cant have a choice why should juniors. dont hand them anything, make them earn it. they'll appreciate it more

thats just outside of philly all private property in the SRA area. 60,000 antlerless tags and only gamelands to hunt on

and there wont be any change if the restrictions are removed from seniors either.

soon as CWD hits Erie county...i'm done, not hunting deer anymore.

the buck to doe ratio they envisioned when this whole thing took effect never happened. we were suppose to shoot the big mature does and let the smaller antlerless deer go that would save all the button bucks, thats why they increased the "doe" seasons and instituted HR efforts. kill more doe let the bucks grow.

never happened because PA is mostly a "brown and down" state, we love our venison to much to let a deer walk away.

he was looking for bigger bucks and a balanced buck to doe ratio...he got the bigger bucks

I'd say the buck:doe ratio is way more even now. 1980s and 1990s you'd see 20 doe before you see a buck. Now I feel like it's more of a 50:50 shot at whether the deer walking by will be a buck or a doe. Time in the field has shown this as well as trail cameras and a backyard feeder.

maybe where you hunt. the two farms i hunt i have seen several groups of deer walk out in fields. 10 or more all doe or maybe a shed buck or button buck but no noticeable antlers. even driving around with good light about an hour before dark, counted over 50 deer, no noticeable bucks and this is over miles of driving, lots of different properties.

now to be fair when coyote hunting, late summer, i see a lot more bucks in velvet while looking around with the thermal scanner

i've seen the same thing about 30 or so odd years ago. i still see similiar things only the deer herds that i see have 15 to 20 doe and no antlered bucks. rifle season one year saw two separate groups of deer cross a field 15 in one and 17 in the other...no bucks hunting WMU 1B

i like big racks and i can not lie...

now..back to the bucks...i shoot any legal one i can find. killed two shed bucks during red tag so far. its not my fault they identified as does

threatening Social security and medicare is a political scare tactic. they will never go broke. they have already proven they can write trillion dollar checks anytime they want !

i think dropping AR for seniors is all about giving someone a last chance at a buck, any buck IF THEY CHOOSE. for some, it could be their last season, sitting 20 yards behind camp because thats as far as their legs and lungs will take them, hoping to share in one last buck harvest with their son or daughter and you "sportsmen" want to take that away and keep it from happening.

well, just pat yourself on the back this Sunday when you go to church and tell the preacher how proud you are of what you did.

back when we could shoot any buck we wanted there were so many deer running around they instituted AR and HR programs, thats how bad it affected the herd back then, when the deer ran past your stand , you couldnt count them there were so many...🤣🤣
