I hope the people of Oregon are lighting up their reps phones and opposing this. If not people need to start voting with there feet and moving out of unfriendly states and into ones that actually observe there constitutional rights.
Notice the proposed law "leaves an out" if you owned an assault rifle prior to a certain date (in 2013)- you can own ONE assault rifle, you have to register it, etc.
If you own more than 1, you have to surrender the rest to the police or sell it via a dealer to somebody out of state, or remove it from the state.
This is confiscation. Now, it does not fit the bill of somebody kicking in your doors and "confiscating" a firearm- but, if after it is all said and done you do as they say- you no longer have your property regardless- and if you do not comply, they have full authority to kick in your doors, take the firearm, and lock you up.
It's confiscation. For "non-violent possession".
These types of bills are being mirrored in many state legislatures right now.
And they said "awww, don't worry, nobody is going to take your guns...". What a crock. We all saw it coming.
And if your firearm is registered under this provision and they change the law, guess what? You have no recourse. They know what you own and where you live.
So... how many people w/full time jobs and families to raise are going to go to jail over this on principle? Very few. How many are going to "fight" (physically)? Few, if any.
