A fellow at work gave me an old Barnett wildcat crossbow. It seems to be in good shape, wooden stock, 150# black recurve limbs. I've never been into crossbows and I have some questions. It needs a string, but would it even be safe being from i'm guessing the 1980's. What length of string would it take ? What weight and length of bolts?

25.6 inch string 25 5/8. Bolts 20in, and weight of the bolts vary. Go to your archery store find bolts you think look neat, put tips on and shoot. If your going to hunt with it, make sure you get the same grain field points as you do broad heads. If you don't get the same grain tips, then your bolt won't fly the same, so the same grain tips is important.
