Sitting in my usual spot, where deer have filtered by between 9 and 10 opening day every year since 2014. Starting time was 10 minutes ago, but folks have been shooting for almost an hour. I haven't counted, but I would guess there have been 50 shots or so.

My blind was nearly caved in due to the heavy shin deep snow. It's right around 32 degrees with a high forecasted for mid to high 30s.

Saw two bucks from this stand last year. Buck (no AR), Doe and Bear (Sows with cubs are protected in NY) are all legal game.

I've seen 3 doe so far in the first hour or so. All solo so it's keeping me on my toes this morning. Beautiful weather and snow on the ground helps. Good luck to everyone out there.

I haven't seen anything yet, but the deer aren't scheduled to arrive for 15 minutes.

Darn it. They're late. Quite a bit of shooting nearby. Hopefully my herd has merely been delayed.

Ended up shooting a nice doe today about 11:35. Was the 6th deer I saw. Hardly any shooting for an opening day. Between the 3 guys I was with we saw a total of 9 deer. 1 buck 7 doe and one I couldn't get in the scope. Beautiful day to be in the woods and the snow made it an easy drag.

Congrats on the doe. I didn't see so much as a squirrel or a chickadee. First time I didn't at least see a glimpse on the opener.

Back at it tomorrow morning.

Got some freezing rain last night. Everything is covered in an eighth inch of ice. Shooting time starts on 20 minutes.
