I didn't know what it was. All I knew was that if you had it in your fist with your thumb through the hole, you'd do well in a fight. Yep

Worked on a house built in 1804. Shutters were disinigrating. Due to cost ready made ones were used to replace them. Had to get the old forged hinges out. They looked like the picture but slimmer. Could not understand why they were so hard to get out with a 4'crowbar. Seems they bent the pointed end over when it went thru the window frame on the inside. Ended up cutting them off. This one may be for a gate
