Hi - I'm new to the site and wanted to stop in and introduce myself before going deep into the threads and participating. I'm a native Pennsylvanian, grew up in Northampton County and got into hunting there as a kid chasing pheasants and rabbits over farms that now grow subdivisions. After college and the Army I moved to Jersey, where the jobs were, and lived there for over 20 years. Not a lot of hunting there....
One day I had enough of New Jersey. I sold out, closed up my business, and packed the car. I had a choice in mind between western PA and Maine and I pointed the car north. (It was farther from relatives.) That was over 5 years ago.
I live in southern Maine and get out as much as I can (but not as much as I like) to hunt, primarily upland birds - grouse, pheasant and sometimes I even see a woodcock. When it's fishing season, I flyfish for trout (and landlocked salmon) and toss hardware for bass and pickerel. I'm partial to side-by-side shotguns, setters, bamboo rods and, come evening, one shot of whiskey, neat.
