If the plot is in a new clearing in the woods, I'd do soil test first and apply lime and fertilizer as test recommends. My first crop on newly opened ground would be buckwheat. It's deer food and a good soil builder. Alsike and red clover might also work if the pH is high enough, but I doubt if corn or wheat would do well in that setting.

yes I took soil sample and sent off. I will get it back this Friday, for 15.00 its a very detailed report giving correct info of what to put down.
