Waiting for a gobbler this morning and not hearing any for two hours was all worth it when this hen came out into the field I was watching. She squatted down and stayed in one spot for quite a while. Then she got up and moved closer to my position and got to a spot where the growth wasn't so tall and I could see the little ones scurrying about. Then she just disappeared. I assumed that she was doing the squatting thing again. With no gobbling to be heard, I went to my truck to retrieve my camera and took a walk to see where she was. I found her hunkered down almost looking like a dead bird. I have a 400mm zoom lens so I tried to keep my distance. She offered me some fairly good photos before she spooked. When she got up I got a few photos of the poults and then beat feet out of there.
