I'm looking for advice on a good flintlock for a beginner! This will be for next season so I want to start my search now!
Thanks!

The Lymans are great rifles, I like the classic T/C Hawken. I would choose the caliber that is most popular in your hunting party.

Get a Lyman or gently used T/C. The reason I say "gently used" T/C is because T/C has almost completely abandoned their flintlock sales and the Hawken has a MSRP of $700+.
You need to decide what caliber you want. The .50 or .54
I have 5-6 flintlocks but only one .54--------I love my .54 Lyman Deerstalker.
There are a bunch of variables on your choice (ie-----Type of hunting you do...etc).
Look around and do some research.............My advice is stay away from Traditions and CVA BUT that is my opinion.
Good Luck

You cannot go wrong with a Lyman Deerstalker. The .54 is a great caliber, but many use the .50.

I second that!!!!!!!!

Any model Lyman or Thompson Center Hawken or Renegade.Caliber really doesn't mater as long as you put a hole in the heart or lungs.
