I'm not sure yet if I will take him out this year . But I started him shooting his gun a few weeks ago. He first shot it with a lead sled. Then I wanted something that he could move around and aim by himself but still take some of the recoil,so I rigged this up. It works really well. When I do decide to take him hunting I don't want any part of the shooting but I have no problem using this rest. He can freely move it in any direction. Last night he shot three shots at about 20 yards and drilled the target each time. I made sure that the gun was pointed away from the target so he had to move it to the target. Even if he doesn't hunt this year it will be a good practice tool.
