FYI here is the response I received today from Casey's camp.

Dear Mr. *************

Thank you for taking the time to contact me about the tragic shooting in Newtown, Connecticut. I appreciate hearing from you about this issue.

As you know, on December 14, 2012, an individual in Newtown, Connecticut forced his way into Sandy Hook Elementary School and opened fire on teachers and staff in the building. In total, the perpetrator murdered 20 students between the ages of six and seven years old, as well as six adults, many of whom heroically sought to stop the shooter and save the lives of children. Like many Americans, I was deeply affected by the scope and brutality of this act. My thoughts and prayers are with the victims and their families.

The motives that led to this senseless massacre will likely never fully be comprehended. However, I believe that all public officials have a responsibility to work to prevent such an event from occurring again. This incident reflects a complex problem that requires a comprehensive strategy, including funding for law enforcement officers and the mental health care system. Too many individuals with mental illness are not receiving the services they need and tragically, sometimes a small number of these individuals turn violent. I have supported access to affordable and accessible mental health services for all Americans and I will continue to review proposed solutions to improve our mental health system.

As you may know, I am a strong supporter of the Second Amendment. Pennsylvania has a fine hunting and sporting tradition, and I will defend the right to bear arms as it is enshrined in our Constitution. However, I also believe that the attack at Sandy Hook Elementary School highlights very serious dangers posed to public safety by the misuse of certain weapons and technology originally developed for warfare. According to reports, the shooter was able to kill many children and adults very quickly because he possessed a military-style semiautomatic weapon. He also allegedly used magazines containing up to 30 rounds of ammunition and carried hundreds of rounds more. After much reflection and careful study of the issue, I have decided to support a federal assault weapons ban as well as legislation restricting high capacity clips. In light of what occurred at Sandy Hook, these are two measures that will lessen the chances that this will happen again soon.

Our Nation has already begun a critical dialogue as we examine what steps must be taken to prevent this type of tragedy in the future. On December 19, 2012, President Obama announced the formation of an inter-agency task initiative, led by Vice President Biden, to study these issues and recommend possible actions. I look forward to reviewing these proposals, as well to working with my colleagues on both sides of the aisle to address this complex issue.

Again, thank you for sharing your thoughts with me. Please do not hesitate to contact me in the future about this or any other matter of importance to you.

For more information on this or other issues, I encourage you to visit my website, http://casey.senate.gov. I hope you will find this online office a comprehensive resource to stay up-to-date on my work in Washington, request assistance from my office or share with me your thoughts on the issues that matter most to you and to Pennsylvania.

Sincerely,
Bob Casey
United States Senator

I recieved this from Senator Joe Scarnati's Office:

Thank you for your recent e-mail message regarding the 2nd Amendment. Senator Scarnati is a member of the National Rifle Association and believes we need to enforce existing laws rather than enacting new ones. He does not support any legislation that infringes on individual’s 2nd amendment rights. The Senator appreciates hearing from you on this important issue.

My letter to Sen. Casey:

I oppose any new legislation which restricts, in ANYWAY, the 2nd Amendment rights of the American people.

Do not tell me you will defend the rights of sportsmen and hunters. The 2nd Amendment was not designed to protect hunting and sporting rights. It was designed to allow people like me to protect myself from people like you (oppressors in Washington D.C.).

The Bill of Rights is extremely clear. The 2nd Amendment reads that the right "SHALL NOT BE INFRINGED." The great thing about the 2nd Amendment is that you do not recognize its value until the government tries to limit it.

Dear Matthew,
Thank you for contacting me about the killings in Newtown, CT. I appreciate hearing from you.
Like all Americans, I was horrified and sickened to learn about the mass murder in Newtown, CT on December 14, 2012. As you know, Adam Lanza murdered 26 people that day, including educators and young children at Sandy Hook Elementary School and his mother at her house, before committing suicide. My thoughts and prayers are with the victims and the families who were affected.
In response, we need to come together as a nation, carefully reflect on what happened, and have a thoughtful dialogue on how we can improve public safety and protect our children. Of note, this atrocity in Newtown was the direct result of serious mental illness - something we have consistently observed in other mass killings over the years. We therefore need to better protect ourselves from mentally ill individuals who seek to carry out such atrocities. We also need to review and improve how we take care of the mentally ill. I therefore value your input on this issue and look forward to Congress debating which policies should be implemented to improve public safety.
Thank you again for your correspondence. Please do not hesitate to contact me in the future if I can be of assistance.
Sincerely,

Pat Toomey

That's the response I expected from Casey. He's just Obama Jr, IMHO. On the state level.... He mentioned about PA having lots of sportsman. The 2nd is NOT ABOUT HUNTING OR SHOOTING SPORTS. GET OVER IT ALREADY!

Pro Gun? Pro second amendment? He's just like every other democrat. Socialist. Nuff said there.

At least we finally got rid of Fast Eddie...and have Pat Toomey, a staunch conservative. Casey is an empty suit, voting straight down the line for the Socialist agenda for Dumbo, and the rest of them in Mordor on the Potomac.

Keep up the emails to your our legislators. If anything, they will truly feel the power of the gun lobby.

That's better!

More laws won't stop sickos from being sick. They should not posses a weapon, at any point.

He didn't come right out and say let's ban x and x. He only talked about mental health. Let's give him the benefit of the doubt.

why do they all answer with "Thank you for taking the time to contact me about the tragic shooting in Newtown, Connecticut"

is that what you wrote them about ? or their stance on supporting gun rights ?

In my letter I stated something such as we should not make knee jerk reactions to events such as the shooting in conn. most of the letter discussed common since gun laws as the fact that we slowly being stripped of our freedoms. Blah blah blah. They only see the part they want.

Am I miss informed or was the Bushmaster left in the car?
That is what was initially reported, then retracted, then "under investigation"

I think it was left in the car, but that doesn't fit their narrative, so the media is circling the wagons for the Regime.

The truth may never be revealed. I believe it was 2 handguns only, until I see otherwise.

Mine to Casey
Since it is looking like none the firearms used in the Newtown killings were NOT a AR-15, since it was initally reported it was in the car, then it was reported as being used, now it is "under investigation" (????). Why is there even legislation pending to institute a ban on rifles?

It sure seems to me like someone is trying to use a massacar of children to push a adgenda.
Dang, I sent a double negative. Teach me to try do do something worthwhile while at work.

Look uo "Politition" in the dictionary and it reads: Blah,blah,blah,blah,blah......

These guys can't even get the facts right on what type of gun was actually used and they are all experts now on what should be done.
These guys heads are spinning on their heads like tops trying to align themselves with whoever will get them reelected that they really don't care which way this goes so as it doesn't affect their ability to get reelected to their jobs.

If it's possible the Bushmaster wasn't used I hope the NRA brings this to light today, and shames those who are using this tragedy to push their agendas.

He also allegedly used magazines containing up to 30 rounds of ammunition and carried hundreds of rounds more.

If he left the bushmaster in the car, then how did he use 30 round.... oh wait....ah....I see.....ALLEGEDLYbeing the key word here.

Politicians/liars what ever you want to call them, used this tragedy to their advantage, It was their "katrina" so to speak. Just waiting for the right tragedy to jump on. Most of them who made speeches that day, talked about banning guns right out of the gate. It went something like this. " This was a senseless tragedy that happened in Newtown hours ago. 26 people, 20 whom were innocent children, were callously gunned down by Adam Lanza. We need stiffer gun laws, ban assault weapons and high capacity magazines, close the gun show loop hole, better back ground checks, blah blah blah". The Lobbyists got their moment they've been waiting for. It's a shame that it still hasn't been quite a month, and you hear less about the families who lost their children and loved ones in Newtown, and more how they want to take our guns.
Casey is just like his dad. He isn't for the people, he's for big government and Obama.
