After watching his older brother fill all three of his doe tags with his bow, my youngest son, Matt, decided it was time to fill a tag of his own. Thanks to the PGC for allowing me to transfer one of my doe tags to my young son. Friday, October 21st, Matt made his first attempt to take a doe. As the sun was setting in the west, Matt settled the crosshairs from his 7mm-08 on the deers vitals. The deer stood broadside a meer 40 yards away. Matt kept saying to me "Dad, I can't keep steady". I said just relax, take a deep breath, put the crosshairs on her chest and squeeze. Then I asked "are you on her?" He replied yeah. "Ok, buddy, squeeze". At the shot, the deer stumbled and raced off to our right. I had no doubt the deer wouldn't go far. We found her piled up only 50 yards away. After alot of high 5's, hugs and picture taking, we were off to show family and friends Matts trophy. It's a day neither of us will soon forget.
