I think this thred went around at least a few times... I shoot a .300RUM and can do a real good job with it on the bench. I do have a Mag Na Port on it and a R-3 recoil pad. I want it to shoot at least like my .270 from the bench, and so it dose. When huntin I just screw it off and go hunt. Recoil don't matter when a target with a heart beat is in the X hairs. I've found over the years one bad thump to the shoulder while at range will make for the rest of the shootin unpleasent. This I guess is the point. IMO a screw off style is a good idea for the hard kicker's. Some of the guy's at gun club have big gun's and most have breaks. The guy's who don't shoot not to good. Work's for me.....later
thanks on the last response. i use it for out west only and it not a problem wearing ear plugs out their, other gun for whitetail ( bow only ) tks for your thoughts. i hate
getting pounded at the range, hunting you dont feel it.
If you are gonna break it just to get range time there are other ways to compensate for the recoil. If it's gonna be a shoot a round every now and then rifle then I'd opt for one of the other compensating devices.
If she is gonna be a frequent and extended shooter then I'd break her.
