How are you guys catching muskrats, other than holes, runs, bottom edge sets, feedbeds, etc., cause I can never seem to bait them in. The seasons winding now, and the holes have too many entrances to set and catch rats. I've got 8 out of the pond, and know theres a lot more. I've been catching them in slides mostly, but theres too many of them to set and have a good chance too. So I was just wondering what you guys were using. Thanksj

Also, how many of you have caught black muskrats? I got my firsst this year.

Wasn't planning on trapping this year but a neighbor asked me to get the muskrats out of his pond. My baited sets consist of a piece of apple dipped in either anise or spearmint/peppermint oil. I got four this morning. Two were with baited sets.

Are you guys just setting that on the bank, with a trap in front? In spots I know there aren't beaver, I use a castor lure with a smaller sized "castor mound", and catch a couple like that.

I usually catch a black muskrat or two each year. Pocket sets work well for muskrats.
