When did Remington start manufacturing the 700 where the bolt can be operated with the safety on?

BTW, the "fix" was eliminating the tang on the safety lever that engaged the step cut in the root of bolt handle in the safe position preventing the bolt from operating....opening or closing. The trigger internals or the sear block portion of the safety lever were not changed.

This is a 721/722 trigger. The tang(red arrow) was carried over to the 700 triggers.


For those not wanting to return their rifles in, for what ever ever reason, would shorten the tang or remove it all together.
