Same here at home. Saw this fox off and on all winter. Can’t imagine how it survived. Rat tail no hair and patchy coat. Would see it in my yard in the sun come spring and summer sunning itself, curled up in a ball. Then it disappeared.Several years ago, I saw a red fox with mange. It looked so miserable
I don't believe greys get mange. Reds yes but never saw a grey with it.Out of 19 Coyote's this year only 1 had mange. 22 fox an 3 of the red's had mange. I've never seen a gray with mange but always get atleast a red an a couple yotes with it every year
I’m not far from you, and like you, I seldom see any mange. I saw a red fox near Grove City a year ago that was almost hairless, and every fall, I see at least one bear on trail cams with some degree of mange. To be honest it’s pretty rare around here.
We don’t have a massive sample group to test, but out of say 25 coyotes I see it on 1.
how is it in your area?
Simmons had a big bear at his shop this year when I took mine to get mounted that had mange all over it and looked terrible. The customer still wanted to get it mounted.I’m not far from you, and like you, I seldom see any mange. Possibly because the fox mite does not survive on them very well.Hern why don’t greys get mange
But they are susceptible to Distemper, reds aren't.Hern why don’t greys get mange
