I recently bought a Lynch’s world champion 102 used off of a website. The call looks good but I feel like it is a fake, at least the box part. Everyone I see online for sale has words on the side of the box or on the inside but this one has no writing other then the paddle. I have a Lynch’s foolproof and feel like that sounds way better.

Just went downstairs to take a look at mine at it has writing on both sides of the outside of box and the turkeys think it sounds good.

Thanks, something just didn’t look right to me so I wanted to see what others had. It was only $20 so it is what it is. Like I said my foolproof model I know has the outside writing.

My Lynch call is like delphic93`s box call .Got mine from a friend that use to come into where I use to work to deliver material to us. He passed away shortly afterward . Got it back in the late 1990`s from him.

To the OP, might be worth sharing those pictures with Lynch and seeing what they think about it. Might be an obscure model of some sort, although if it doesn't sound good I doubt it is.

If it doesn't sound good....it's just firewood! Many years ago I was convinced I could make a good sounding box call. I had the hardwoods and the time, so I made one. The only problem was it took me all turkey season of messing with it to sound good that the entire season went by and my call still wasn't "there."

Lesson learned. I bought a good quality call and my experiment went into the fire.

Mine has writing.....and still works good. I have 4 other box calls in inluding one custom, but I like the sound of the Lynch best...

Check the vintage first.....never know, you might just be throwing a valuable piece of wood into the fire.

I had a couple signed by Ben Lee back in the 1970's. My Father-in-Law was a sporting goods salesman that hunted with many high-profile hunter's. One of the calls was green hard plastic, I gave them to my son as keepsakes from his Grandad.

Yes, some are. especially the older one. As far as I know.

I received a couple emails back from Lynch’s asking for pics. The one rep said they did find some world champion calls without the box lettering from around 2006-2007, but they were pretty positive they were never available for Sale with the regular stock. Maybe what I have is rare.

This is the last email I just received from them:
Well, these were made for Lynch around
2006-2007 by an outside source and then I think it
was decided not to sell as 'first stock' not exactly
sure why, my quess is that each one needed more
work to sound great like a lynch call (lots of
sanding, chalk etc..
I hope this does not upset you, it is still a 'Lynch
Call' !!!!!!I! (i do believe this was the only time
Lynch ever contracted an outside source to make a
batch of calls)
