just curious as to who has done this, where they have gone and about how much it cost? ive always wanted to do a cat hunt and recently mentioned it to a friend and he said the same! he actually has a contact in Idaho that isn't an outfitter but has lots of buddies that run cats for fun just like our coyote guys here. it sounded promising at first and I wasn't opposed to that idea but a little more serious digging has proved to be frustrating/disappointing and the "buddies" claims arnt holding up now that we've actually called him on it so it looks like we are in the market for am outfitter. we hoped to gather info at the sportsman show this yr but obviously that wont be happeing. any input would be great!

5 to 7 grand as a minimum. You can plan it to a certain time, or be on a "call list", if your schedule allows. When you are on call, an outfitter may call and say he has a nuisance tag to fill, you pack and go. The other way is like any other hunt, you go for a certain amount of days. Its really physical for the most part, tons of fun, I would say worth the money to do it once.
Stackbarrel just went on a similiar hunt. Not sure what it cost him but I saw his success pics on this site.

I tried sending you a pm but you are over the limit.

I just had a client from PA return from a Colorado lion hunt we offer. He killed a nice tom and had a great hunt. If you'd like, I can put you in contact with him. I can also email you some pics if you'd like. Let me know.

I have a friend thatlooked at several places and ended up going to Nevada. He was able to get two for what several states wanted for one.

I cleaned out my pm box...thanks for the headsup!
The outfitter i used to hunt elk with in Colorado was doing some and as Joe said its one of those deals your on call. Weather plays a big toll also. His hunt was around 3,500.00.
Alberta is probably your best choice. Im 2 for 2 on toms there, while the hunts in the states are cheaper if you have to go twice its not. Do you just want to hunt lions or kill a monster? Thats the question, id never do a hunt in the states simply because of success rates.
Ashnola outfitters in BC. did a cougar and bobcat hunt with my dad there great people and a lot of fun. Took a very nice 180 lb cat and a nice bobcat. My dad liked them so much he returned to do a mountain goat and deer hunt as well. if I was looking to do another one I wouldn't have any second guesses with going with them.
thanks for all the info guys! just go word today (thurs) that im getting laid off tomm (fri)...that might put a damper on the lion hunt. time will tell
stay with british columbia brother. best place you can imagine to shoot a good lion,. good luck with your job and hope to see a good lion soon.
I used Blackfeet outfitters for summer related activities, fishing sightseeing in glaciers NP and off road riding. Alger is a great guy and will treat you right. we talked about the different hunts he has and i will probably do a couple some day. can't hurt to give him a call. tell him Joe and Helen gave you his name.

the price is deff right but it makes me think that something is missing from the bottom line...food, lodging etc...we have some info on the way in the mail and prob make a phone call nxt wk
If they run their cat hunts anything like they run their spring bear hunts, you couldn't give me a hunt there. Very unorganized and horrible maintained equip, which i assure you will ruin a cat hunt quick.
Dont book a hunt, especially a cat hunt based on "the price is right" . Contact Mark Bueher at Bowhunting safari consultants, its a free service and they have a bunch of choices. I book all my hunts thru them and am 8 for 9 on hunts. No i didnt book that bear hunt through them, last hunt i booked myself.
