Now that the "pups" are 1.5 and running well, my wife and I are considering adding another hound to the couch. We don't need another one, and are looking for some specific traits and don't mind waiting for the one that does.

Wife must haves.

Female
Under 13" The smaller the better.
Blue tick (not just some blue ticks, but like Oakhill or Andy P's. Blue one)
Younger the better.
Must, Must get along in a home setting with the other 3
Me must haves.

Female (someone is in heat nearly a quarter of the time)
Don't care how big (as long as it fits in the truck box)
Must be started at the very least. Could possibly consider a pup if I could run my hounds with both parents before sale.
A bit of cold trailing OK if she comes up with it
Can't be shy around noise if not gunned over yet.
Blue tick would be nice.

Looking generally for a fairly quick hound that has line control. Basically, somewhere between runs too fast and rough for spo, and doesn't hook and slash enough for little pack. Generally Midwest spo.

Akc, nkc, PKC, UKC and grade would all be considered. Ability is foremost.

Must, must be willing to give a trial period on any dog older than four months.

Would be willing to trade, high end fly fishing gear, manual labor, or pics of dead presidents.

Looking within four hours of Erie co pa.

Found one with all the attributes. Was ready to put a deposit and make the nine hour round trip. Got pics. Wife says "she isnt very blue"...

And the search continues...

Ouch...she does realize the hunting attributes are just a tad more important than how pretty she is right?

Hi Bearklr.

Please refer to your tag line when trying to understand the female thought process.

She is aware of the hunting attributes, and has done some running with me. She started this with wanting a pocket beagle, but I explained that many do not run, and the ones that do are generally slow. Plus i dont see the point in getting an 8" hound when we get over 100" of snow every year.

I have been scouring the "big three" beagle adds for months and rarely see a blue dog with the speed i desire anywhere, much less around here.

Because the is going to be our last hound for a while, we wanted to make the search more exciting. I could have a tricolor or 10 on the couch by next week.

If i don't find one for a while, I'm content with what i have now. Sometimes its in the thrill of the chase, i guess.

Good luck with your hounds.

LOL...I know exactly where you're coming from. It was sort of a rhetorical question. I checked rabbitdogs, americanbeagler and beagles for sale but nothing close. Saw some nice blueticks but they were in Virginia, Kentucky and Louisiana.
