Get on archery talk and get a used bow, or look here in the classifieds. If your not sure if you're going to like it or not, don't spend the money up front. My recommendation is to either get a Mathews switchback xt, Buckmaster G2, or Mathews Drenalin in that order. They are reliable bows and you can get them pretty cheap fully loaded.
I would go to a pro shop and shoot a bunch of different bows, then go from there. I would not buy anything without shooting it first! What if you don't like it or it doesn't feel good to you? Then your stuck with a used bow that you have top try to resell.
I second what HNTRDAVE said. There are alot of good used bows at many pro shops. I would also look at trying to find a mentor or buddy that currently hunts and shoots with a bow so that you got some one on hand to help.
