I just read in the info thread that you should keep your light on all the time. Wouldn't that spook them and make them stay away? Or do you use a red light and they're not suppose to see it?

Use a red light and keep it on the entire time. Red seems to not affect them

Yes, coyotes can see red light. However, the rods and cones (light-sensitive cells of the retina)
of coyotes are affected differently with red light. To learn more see:

I leave my light on the entire time while scanning! When you see eyes keep the light on them the whole time. When they are within range, turn your gun light on, I.D. your target and take the shot.

You should have your light on when walking into a field also. Many times I've pulled up to a hunting spot got out of the car started walking in scanned the field and saw eyes.
