I know a few who use shooting shacks, but they are of coarse on private land. We have the luxury of numerous hunting locations, but being on public land they are open for all to use.
So as a result it isn't something most would be advertising as to location.
Some years certain areas produce better than others. Food and hunter numbers are contributing factors. I know guys who have their pet spots and wont leave them year after year.
We don't do that, we just wont wait till they finally show up. If we see deer we go back, if not we will be at a different spot tomorrow. We are always deer hunting. Turkey and bear seasons are basically scouting missions for acorns and deer sightings.
This year acorns seemed to be everywhere, and it proved to be a poor year for long range in the area as well.
I don't think ive ever heard so much complaining from so many people. I watched deer laying down this year and just reaching to pick up acorns.
