The one with the white head came from some local amish, but a friend of mine has some dogs out of the same line. My brindle dog came from southern OH. Found her on the UKC classifieds, did not know nothing about her till after I bought her. I know almost always know of some local pups but they won't be registered if that matters to you.

Great lookin dogs, what are the breed standard colors for the curs??

They can be just about any color. Yellow, brown, black, brindle, blue, red. Usually have some white. OMCBA will not register a dog that is more than 1/3 white, but some of the other registeries will.

the new dog looks a lot like a plott. They are awesome looking.

No I think plotts look like my dog.

100% Got the papers. Seen the parents. This dog is of an old time blood line. Curs were around before the plotts so there is a good chance the plotts have cur blood in them. I need to do some more research so I can answer these questions. I know CasB knows more about plotts than I ever will. Hopefully he can shed some light.

My dad has a good plott. Dad and I get in heated discussions over this.

I don't know enough about the history of either breed to put up a good arguement but we still do. No harm in that. I am partial to the curs though. Everyone's got there preference. By the way my curs are wide open on cats. One is open on coon the other partially. I don't think the new one will bark much but that is to be seen. I do like to hear a chase.

The Plotts started out being called Plott Curs. Then they started registering them as hounds. Much like they are doing to the Leopard Cur now. They have two registries. One for Leopard Cur and one for Leopard Hound.

Some historians write that the Plott was derived from 3 breeds...one being a Cur..

The Plott family used a mix of Bloodhounds, Blevins hounds and Curs to create the Plott Hound of today. This is the only coonhound that does not descend from English foxhounds.
