It never made any sense to me to allow the use of muzzleloaders or rifles for deer hunting when the foliage is still thick in many areas. I don't care how much fluorescent orange a person wears at that time you could never be certain of your target and beyond in a wooded environment.

Killing does before they are pregnant saves bucks from using energy breeding does that will end up dead. It also saves forage and browse for the remaining deer going into the fall and winter.

I would not oppose earlier doe seasons but in a state where tradition outweighs everything else in hunting, that is a tough uphill battle.

I would be concerned that we would not get enough of a antlerless harvest with the above season structures though.

What I see is motivated by getting the October week out of archery season.

Why no antlerless only period in the archery season?

This was just a thought. ..pgc will never go for it. .it will increase deer herd....they can raise the fees ..$16/archery/muzzleloader..$25 for residents. .. $10/doe..I would pay it

Doesn't bother me what seasons come first, but just let me know the rules. In the case above I would likely have to buy some more flintlocks for the family.

Oh boy... All excited over the possibilites of archers getting a season cut are we?
That is just awesome, shoe me the rules, turn me loose, the results will still be the same. Killa but load of doe and select a good buck. Easy.

Keep it civil.

I just don't understand why if the science has a need for something to happen within a specific time period, why everyone hunting in that time period are not geared to the science.

As long as this is a hypothetical "change up", why not do away with the October firearm week entirely? Start archery (any Pa legal archery weapon) about the middle of September, doe only, and keep that in place until about the middle of October.....from the middle of October to the end of October make it buck or doe (any Pa legal archery weapon). From the end of October to the middle of November, make it buck or doe, for only longbow and recurve.

In the SRA's, let the safety zones dictate what SRA legal weapon can be used and run them all concurrent from the middle of September to the end of February. Buck or Doe, Unlimited doe tags.
