Today is my last day off from work. I'd like to get out, but it is raining pretty good here at 6:00. I'm not going out in the rain with BP. It is supposed to stop relatively soon. Good luck to all who venture out!

Steady drizzle and low visibility here in the SW part of the state. Kinda glad my boss made us work today as I can take the holiday time when there is better weather.

Ya figured rain stopped ( at least on radar) I would be able to get out. Wrong! Steady drizzle, fog, and 90% humidity I don't think will end soon with heavy rain coming in overnight.

Forecast is for rain all day here, and most of tomorrow. I need a break anyway, so am going to sit it out until Wednesday or Thursday. They mentioned the "S" word on the news for the weekend. I know that's a long way off weatherwise, but I'm hopeful.

Still drizzling here. Looks like its going to let up within an hour or so. But I still don't think I'm going out with all the moisture that will still be in the air. We'll see.

Hunted for about two hours and my son missed a big doe at close range. He had a slow ignition and did not hold it on target. Called it quits just to drizzly and damp today.

Me and 2 buddies had a good hunt!

I was running late...Ran to the Drs to get antibiotics..Knew I had a double ear infection.

Took care of that and met them around 1130.

2nd push of the day 8-10 doe came up the hill to me. I figured with that many doe I better hold my fire.

I watched them run up the hill and kept seeing deer dancing around up there. Figured it was the same here of doe...

They started trotting right back toward me. Mom and a little one came..I cracked back the hammer and set the trigger. She stopped 15yds away. Battling myself to shoot her or not. She could see my breath rising and getting nervous but she stayed for a good minute or 2. I looked beyond her and seen a rack coming...

I honestly can't remember what happened. I know the first buck was a bit small. I couldn't tell if he was legal square on to me...Maybe a 2.5yo...I'd shoot if legal...

I spotted another buck....Much wider...Dang half rack!

I think there was a smaller half rack Infront of the bigger one..

I focused on the bigger one...He stopped in an opening about 30yds away and I verified "3 up". KABOOM!!!

With the high humidity and slight most the smoke hung right in my face...Through the smoke I watched him topple 30yds beyond the shot!

I never seen the "stump" on the right side. He has about a 6" stump busted off on the right...Left side has 4 legal points. The G2 is broken but is over an inch for the internet game wardens.

My 3rd flintlock buck! First buck with the rifle I built...2nd deer with it.

Still have a 1A and a 2F tag. Not sure if I will pursue filling those or not. I can use another deer in the freezer...Double ear infections I'm definitely done till next week when I'm off again.

Buddy jumped the herd again and said there was a giant in the bunch. How big, I don't know. He gets excited easily lol. I am more than thrilled with mine. Bucks in the late season can be tough to come by...Rack doesn't seem right but his body is that of a 3.5+yo. Weight tape says he's just over 200lb on the hoof.

I had an embarrassingly bad miss at a doe, standing broadside at about 25 yards. It had been 5 years since I last even shot at a deer during muzzle loader season and I had 4 doe walking right towards me. Got way too excited, forgot set the hair trigger, rushed the shot, and totally missed.

Taught this tree a lesson though!
