Slowing down "some" anyway, back in the first of this year I had what the doctors "think" may have been a little heart attack or mini stroke. This was while w-a-y back in. Made the mistake of letting the wife know, you know how that is. No more night hunting, so I have put the ecaller and lights on ebay. Ha! Still have the mouth calls. But I will stick to daylight hunting. Told my wife and the doctors that if I drop in the woods someone could me as a bait pile set-up. Just shoot off the possums. I will hit that favorite hot spot I been saving. There is a coyote there marked like a Border Collie.

Spent the last 50 years in the woods every chance I got.So we die in the woods, better than getting neglected in some nursing home.I am doing a better job of letting people know the area I"m hunting,so hopefully they find me before the possums do.Kill the coyote.

No reason to sell it all off. Take some time and come up with a plan to stengthen your heart. There are many hunters who have had a heart attack and other issues and just do it a little different. Just dont give up that easy. Lots of contry to coverm Enjoy your time afield.

I have trouble with my Aortic Valve. I'm 58 years old. I have slowed down some but I do hunt, maybe not as hard as before, but i'm not giving up yet. I agree those hills are getting steeper and steeper but I just take my time and i'm ok. I try to stay active all year around, hunting, now trapping, coyote hunting etc. I told my heart doctor I stay active to keep my heart stronger and he agrees with me.

Doug,
I know what you mean buddy. I'm 69 and started slowing down at birth. I feel pretty good except for my knees. Doc said I'll be needin a replacement or two soon. Holding off as long as I can. I sure hope you come out of this feeling better. Stay in touch, Pete

You guys are tops!! Thanks!! I'm only lighting the load, ain't quittin. Get a bunch of medical test tomorrow at the VA. I like the idea of only carrying Mr.Bees Obrian howler and a couple other mouth distress calls. Pete, we still need to hit "that spot".

My sickness march started over fifty years ago, when I was young. Didn't have to wait to get old.
Slight problem with knees, a bad shoulder, another football injury, and a possible bad heart. That was over fifty years ago. For that I'm thankful.

Retirement will eventually come. I just don't worry about it. Probably got this far, by not trying to just overdo it all the time. Pre-season getting and staying in shape, didn't wait for hunting or fishing season to start. I had good reason to stay in my best shape.
