Saw this on another site.
"One of our members shot a good buck last season that went unrecovered, we trailed the deer with our blood dog for 4 miles."

If a deer traveled more than 100 yards, I'd put all the blame on myself for not practicing archery enough or not taking time to make the shot accurately, and in right place.

Never used a dog to track a deer. Learned to get a reading on a compass from the shooting site. That and practice meant a short "track."

But I'll admit to being different. I'd blame me first.

4 miles? Haha, shows why "shot a good buck", and "a good shot on a buck" are two different things!
