If things are not going perfect for you in the turkey woods....I feel for you guys...here are some on my last weeks less than perfect experiences.

1 On 3 different occasions a deer interfered by coming in, spooking and running in the direction of the gobbling. Probably not the same deer. I think I will deer hunt there next year...probably see lots of turkeys...
2 One morning a coyote came running in from the direction a gobbler land on the ground from his roost. To her dismay.

3 While I was enjoying working an excited gobbler a construction vehicle with a beeper stopped near by on the road and sounded off for about 10 minutes. Did not impress the gobbler one bit.
4 A loud slamming noise from a distance house put a strutting gobbler on the run from his strutting location 80 yards out from my ambush. Re-enforcing that Slamming is not a good contentment call.

5 Gobbler is responding and coming closer and closer...what could possible go wrong????...well with no wind a nearby tree bangs over into another tree ending our conversation without the desired bang (From my 20.)
6 Lots of gobbling as 6 red heads paraded by in single file at 20 yards all Jakes. How do they know I don't chose to shoot Jakes???

7 Tree gobbling stops, birds flies to the ground comes walking in 3 hens and another 4 Jakes. They must know....
6 Good gobbling coming closer and closer...now at 20 yards and just over a slight knoll. I have my gun aimed and ready at the last gobble sound, up comes the red head....followed my you guessed it a short bearded Jake.

9 Two times Gobblers held up to gobble, gobble and gobble at a location I had been set up on the day before. Different locations. Been back twice nothing...To little to late.
10 Three times gobblers came in to a location I had moved from. One location I was set up at for 3 hours, but left too soon.

11 Two times gobbler came in answering calls, but stopped behind brush....never to appear. We had some nice conversations though.
12 A red headed gobbler came to calling and stopped at 20 yards showing me only his head and no beard length. #@$XX....

13 Two times gobblers were closing as I heard hen calling between them and me only to hear them walk off together in the opposite direction....saying good bye to me. When I was so looking for a "Hello."
14 Another time put my decoys out and got ready to sat down, but decided maybe to move my setting location for another angle on the decoys only to walk 20 yards to my left and spook 3 hens (Live decoys) walking toward my location. And to think that was on the day I found the 4 leaf clover....

However, I did manage to call in a group of 5 gobblers and 3 hens opening day...Took a nice gobbler with 9 1/2" beard.

Looking forward to some new and perhaps more perfect experiences this coming week. Good Luck to all......

But I did complete all of my season goals so the rest is bonus.

#1 get my nephew is first turkey-9.25" beard, 3/4" spurs
#2 get my buddy his triple trophy- 9.5" beard 3/4" spurs
# mix in friction calls to my arsenal, both birds were killed using friction to initiate and mouth call just to seal the deal.

Couldn't be happier, but some of these things that I am coming into while trying to get a bird for myself just have me scratching my head and laughing.
