I just purchased a MEC Size Master model #SM82. It is for 12 gauge shotgun shell. It is ready for 1 1/8 shot.I didn't get any manuals with it and was wondering if anyone can help. I'm new to reloading and want to get started in the right direction.

Chances are it doesn't have a powder bushing. You need to figure out what load you want to shoot (velocity) and then find a powder you want to shoot. Then buy a bushing that will drop that amount of powder.

In 12 ga, for skeet shooting, I choose a load which will shoot 1200 fps, and I use Red Dot powder.

I also use Red Dot for my Skeet Loads.

However you need to call MEC and order the manual for your press. And read it twice or more-from cover to cover. Anything less would be irresponsible. Tom.

In the past, MEC would provide one bushing with the charge bar. It was enough to get you started and with one or two specific powders, it could handle the charge weight the bar would throw. I don't know if that's the case in your instance and you don't mention a bushing. If you have a bushing it will be numbered and you can look it up on the MEC chart and determine how many grains of powder it will throw with various powders.

There is plenty of data online w/o getting a manual. Just surf the internet. If you're a beginner, I would get a reloading guide to read and get yourself started. Having the manual in front of you is a big help.

Some websites to peruse:

Hey, at least the little girl was proficient and had everything down square.

I've seen the Bushboy videos, and he really kind of scares me.

However, I do want to try some slug loading, with some of the slugs available that you can load inside a standard AA wad for a rifled slug barrel.
