hunting license without ID

16912 Views 64 Replies 28 Participants Last post by  hoytxcutter
My truck was broken into at work today and everything stolen. We planned to leave friday for the mountains and I have no hunting license and no ID. I know my drivers license info and tried getting one on line but you cant print out a general license. Any ideas. Can I get a replacement drivers license in one day? Or is there away to get a general hunting license without a drivers license?

Call your local DJ and ask him if you fail or refuse to produce POSITIVE ID what the officer can do.... if you borrow your buddies hunting lic. and go out hunting and are checked and asked for ID you just saying your buddies name thats on the license doesnt qualify as POSITIVE ID...

I guess i am failing to see why this is such a huge issue it is not that difficult to carry some proof of who you are.
Pa is the only state that ever asked for my driver license. never got hasseled is any other state. maby if you were doing something worng i can see them wanting to see it. it seem like pa wardens are always trying to bust you for something. there are a FEW good ones
yotehunter74, let it go. As ICAREDOYOU pointed out, the original questions was answered.

Ignore hoytxcutter, he is not worth your time. hoytxcutter and some of these other guys are just trolling for trouble. He was responsible for a another thread that was killed, that advocated teaching children under 12 to shoot deer and have the adult/mentor put a tag on it (among other things).

I think it is time to end the thread... or at least ignore it.
Not trolling just asking the same question I was ask. Give us a name so we can check it out. Oh by the way I will be taking my 10 year old nephew tomorrow hoping I can get him a shot.
Good Luck and hope to see some pics
I think there is a difference that needs to be explored here. Just because Steve may or may not be a cop, just because the law does or does not say you need to carry a license, and just because a WCO can or cannot take you in to custody for not having a license . . . doesn't mean you shouldn't carry one. It makes life easier. You can spend time arguing with a WCO making him miserable in the woods all day about what the laws allows if you want. I carry a photo copy of my driver's license and my concealed carry permit in my holder every time. I would rather hunt then argue with a guy trying to do his job. These WCO's go through enough they don't need an argument about this.
I see no problem with carrying you drivers license for ID. Much better then arguing with a warden or worse.
exactly my point Hoytcutter!
if a cop or WCO wants to take you into custody, right or wrong you are going in . . . one way or another. no matter what your day is ruined. I have heard a lot of hunting stories, the ones from jail usually have the story teller as the "game".
I never had a PA. drivers license. How much do they weigh?
When i got my new licenes i asked for the old one back. They punched a hole in it and handed it back to me. I put it with my hunting licenes so i had it, first time i had to show it guess what? ITS EXPIRED SO ITS NOT VALID!!! Its a photo id!!!!
I find all this kind of silly. Why wouldn't a person carry their REAL id when hunting. If I carry my pistol, I carry my CCC in my wallet. An extra 20 grains of plastic for a driver's license is not going to slow you down. I figure it is easier to lose a hunting license than a driver's license. It isn't like you go bare hunting, with no pockets. Maybe you could have your mommy sew it to your shorts. But I suppose there are guys who claim to be hunters who would lose those too.
I agree, zimm. I've always found this topic to have some of the silliest discussions we have on here. This and display/don't display the license discussions

Just carry a valid (non-expired) form of ID, display the hunting license however required....and go hunting!! Don't make life so complicated!!!

Had a problem years ago with a Game Commissioner. I hate to call them Game Wardens. He checked me and my son,he was 14 at the time asked him for identification. Guess what he wasnt old enough to drive at the time, seems the deputy was upset because he wanted his Birth Certificate. The Game Commissioner that was showing him the ropes. Told him to forget about it.

What the heck are the Commissioners Doing out Enforcing the Law??

I thought all the Game Commissioners did was haggle over what law they wanted changed or what season they wanted changed and sat at the head of meetings and listened to us Hunters Yap about what we want???

You never had a Game Commissioner check you,
years ago A Game Protector or if after 1986 A Wildlife Conservation Officer but Game Commissioners dont enforce the law and we have never had Game Wardens in the state.

Bluetick...

Yeah, BUT...

1 Commissioners do not go out and Enforce the law... so he should have said... "Game Cop", seeing they were never even Wardens and if he doesn't understand they are not Game Protectors any longer, but Wildlife Conservation Officers...

what I was saying, was exactly the same thing that WCO R.W.J said, but with a hidden way to make 1 think!
Id tell the dude, that license may be expired but Im not. I'm still pretty sure I look like that!
