My daughter and her friend are looking to take their HTE class. Does anyone know of a class in the Lebanon, Lancaster, Dauphin county areas in the near future? Maybe before the spring turkey season. Thanks

You can search for Hunter-Trapper Education courses on the Pennsylvania Game Commissions website.

I did a quick search and used a Lebanon area zip code and found courses in February. One located in Mt. Wolf which an area I am not familiar with but it appears to be in the York area based on the map.

Not sure if the changes have gone into effect yet, but the course is changing to more "home study" or pre-work on the computer and less classroom time.....cutting it down to 6 hours of CT.

Read the web site carefully to be aware of any pre-requirements that need to be accomplished.

Good Luck~

The new 6 hr format will be in place this year, there needs to be training for all the instructors plus the website will be upgraded to show the new "home study" portion for all new students so be patient till all the new changes are in place.

Are they doing this, so that they can offer more classes? Can you give us any other details as to what will be studied in the home session vs the classroom. Will there be online tests for the home session part? Thanks.

It will be a 6hr class so it can be held in either 2 evenings or 1 day, making it easier for students to attend and also freeing up instructors time.

In some areas there is a shortage of instructors so this will help when it comes to offering more classes

It is my understanding that certian chapters in the student manuel will now be home study. I have not received training in the new format but we will all be up to speed when the classes start this spring.

As far as I know there will be no on-line test.

We need more instructors, go on the PGC website and it will guide you on how to join.

It is all about our youth and new hunters, they are our future and the future is NOW.

My daughter passed hers yesterday at the Ft. Shirleysburg Lions Club. It was a well run class and fun to be a part of. They also gave all the students a complimentary certificate for thier first Junior license. There were around 45 students and all passed!
