I'm using a Hornady GP bullet but the start is so tight that I tend to damage the tip of the bullet with the ramrod getting it started. Any suggestions?

These, or a reasonable facsimile.

GPB Jag

I bought two, one for the short starter, and one for the RR.

Maybe try it, and worst case, take a dremel to the inside if it is a tad small at the shoulder?

Only issue, it wouldn't work with a normal patch for an after shot swab. Jag would be .03-.04" smaller. It would need a thicker patch to work, like a thicker denim or flannel.

Not a high price to at least try one?

There also is a 54 bullet Jag on evilbay, but doesnt have the pin inside to keep the hollowpoint squared up.

I asked Hornady about the .50 and they said it would damage the ogive on the .54. Probably will give the one on EBay a shot.
