I have a nice 6" bench vise that i would like to mount to one of the jack posts in my basement.. Any ideas on how to mount it. (it would not be used for heavy work, so i'm not worried about hurting the post, or the basement falling down)
Thanks for any ideas

type of material the post is made of? if its wood I'd make a "L" bracket bolt it to the post then put the vice on it.then put a 3 rd board under on a angle to support the vice.

Buy a Leg Vise used by blacksmiths... They're made for that.

If its a round metal one, do the same thing with large L brackets just use a bunch of band clamps to hold the L and make a shelf

oh, a 6" thats a big heavy vise. have a welder fabricate a shelf and gusset and weld it.
