HB 891 Amends Title 34 re remote electronic trap

http://www.legis.state.pa.us/cfdocs/bill...e=B&BN=0891

This bill is short - to the exact language:

Nothing contained in this subchapter shall prevent:
* * *
(5) The checking of traps remotely by electronic means
by a properly permitted nuisance wildlife control operator.Section 2.

SB 623 Amends Title 34 re license requirements

This is the adult mentored hunting bill. There is a provision for transfer of one antlerless deer license in the bill.

The larger point, this would set law allowing the GC BOC to set regulation for the program. The BOC is not mandated to allow the transfer of the deer tag transfer if it decides not to. There is also no reason as this bill is written not to allow the transfer.

As stated in the discussion here on HPA on this: even the act of deer hunting can be allowed or not allowed by the BOC.

HB 798 and HB 828 are dangerous and set up legislative control and political manipulation of wildlife management in Pennsylvania.

Remember, we are only ever one election away from having a legislature in place that does not support hunting and fishing. Setting the appointment system up in a manner that political influence can dictate policy will be implemented if these bills pass.

I will urge all to send an email or call their local rep's on this one. For sure, please use the email addresses to make your views known on HB 798 and HB 828.

Looking into the future, this is even more problematic if a merger of the GC and PFBC happens.

If they can't control the BOC one way, they will do it another way!

All bills passed the committee vote. The term limits bills were amended to grandfather in the current commissioners to fill their terms under the current law.

This was the G&F Committee vote. It has two more votes in the house before going to the senate.

Make your views known on these bills.

Keep in mind, passage of these laws makes all wildlife management a political patronage system instead of a activity based on science and good stewardship of out wildlife and fish.

Maybe instead of term limits for BOC, Causer should have introduced a bill to limit terms for all legislators?

I made the comparison to that in my letter and a new commissioner and a freshman legislator learnig curves before they were up to speed. In many ways, it is similar.
