i personaly dont like them because of the results i got while hunting with them but thats me. see how they group out of your gun and if they shoot well and you feel you can effectively take a deer with them go ahead and use them.

nah, i cant let somebody learn the hard way, without atleast giving them a heads-up. if he still chooses to use them, thats his decision.

after i shot a deer with a perfect broadside shot at 30yds and not getting a single drop of blood and not recovering the deer i wouldnt even shoot a woodchuck at 5yds with a hornady slug.

slugster, i ahve never personally fired a sst, and never will. ive seen first hand how they work. my buddy uses them, and ive never seen him drop one in its tracks, watched them run from head and boiler room shots. we tried them out of my little cousins 20g 870, and they wouldnt penetrate through a pice of plywood at 100yds. the expansion is rediculous. they do group great from what ive seen, but if they cant put a deer down cleanly, what good is a solid group? spend a little money and get some remington accutips, or coppersolids.

my cousin uses the accutips and loves them. he hasnt had a deer take more than 3 steps after hitting them. i personally use 3" Remington coppersolids, and wouldnt change for anything. thats what my "super slug" 870 loves to eat, so thats what it gets fed. i use 2 3/4" brenneke ko's in my other two slug guns.

i refuse to shoot 3" anything out of my other two guns. i cant stand that wallop anymore. the only thing eating 3" is the super slug. the ithaca cant stand 3" shells, but loves 2 3/4 ko's.
