Yesterday I found a honey hole of honey mushrooms!! They're called popenke's up here. I picked a plastic shopping bag full and didn't even put a halfway sized dent into the patch!! Took them in and filled the dehydrator twice, boiled/bagged/froze 2 quarts and used the rest to make a batch of cream of wild mushroom soup!! Simplest and tastiest recipe from Bon Appetite. Oil, garlic, onion, chicken broth, mushrooms, thyme, flour and milk. Can't get easier than that!! It is so good the Mrs. had some for breakfast today. :grin2:

That’s a bunch of mushrooms. The soup sounds great.

I was sitting in my reclining chair looking out the window at noon today when I spotted a sheep head growing on an oak stump behind the garage. Mushroom hunting doesn’t get any easier than that.
