I know it's not really a game recipe, but does anyone out there know how to make homemade root-beer?

I always buy the homemade RB from the Amish.... But I to would like to know a good recipe to make it at home.
If I recall correctly, you might wanna run it by Timberdoodle. I have ton's of sassafrass and was going to make some.
I need to ask my dad. He said he and his dad used to make it when he was a kid and had a capper to put caps on the bottles. What sticks in my mind is that he said they would drop a raisin in each bottle, but you had to be careful not to drop 2 raisins or the bottles would blow up.(?) Who knows, maybe it was something else they were brewing.
I bought a jug from the Amish a couple weeks ago. It said suger, water, yeast, and rootbeer extract.

I've bought the Amish Root Beer from our local flea market (Roots )once. I thought it was nasty ... I'd be interested to try something at home.

You can buy rootbeer extract at some country stores. My mom used to make it this way in gallon jugs. And it was pretty good. I remember one time though that a bottle exploded. Makes a pretty stick mess.

You buy the Extract and mix it with Water, Yeast and Sugar then bottle it... Simple as that!

I think northern brewer sells the extracts as well. real rootbeer that is alcholic is not as good as the soda root beer many know and love. just watch some of the recipes you find online is for the alcholic one.
