Just booked two nights at a cabin that includes a hot tub, bathroom with shower, fireplace, fully equipped kitchen, satelite TV, CD, DVD, and outside fire pit... Yeah I know... we will really be roughing it right? Only way my wife will go "camping" with the kids though.

Anyway, what are your favorite things to do in the Hocking Hills Area? It will be me, my wife, and two kids (4 and 2 years old). We will be staying in South Bloomingville, OH... not far from Old Man's Cave.

I remember someone posted something about this Park/area a few years ago, and that is what gave me the idea of visiting. Just finally getting a chance to head out that way. Anyone real familiar with the area? I know it is in Ohio, and not PA, but thought I would ask anyway since someone posted about it before. I just can't find the old post???

Thanks!

Maybe 15 miles southeast of bloomingville is Lake Hope state park. They have a nature center, a old restored iron furnace and the Moonville Tunnel. The Moonville Tunnel is reputedly haunted, and is accessed by a short trail on a old railbed.

Deer Archer.. I appreciate your tips, but with a 2 year old and a 4 year old I don't think I'll be able to do the Zip line tours.

Trust me, I would LOVE to do that! I just don't think we will be able to do that this year!

Thanks though!

Lake Hope is on our list. I heard there is a beach and also a playground there? I plan on bringing my kayak, and I already bought a 3 day fishing license so this may be one of the things we do!

Be careful down there, do not leave anything in your truck. Crime is really bad. Hocking, Vinton and Scioto Co's are the pill capital of the USA. Tons of "pill-billy's" that steal anything not nailed down. Those counties have these "pain clinic's" that basicly pass out oxycontin to anyone whose health insurance will pay for them. I know two guys who were down in Hocking hunting last fall and both had there trucks broken into.

We had an awesome time! No troubles at all... well except for the 1 hour sidetrack to go to a Wallmart in Athens for supplies. We were using our iPhone's and asking Siri where the closest Walmart was and it was putting a pin on the Athens Store. When we got to our Exit in Logan, there was a Wallmart right there! Oh well, lesson learned... Don't trust Siri!!!

This was our cabin:
