Does anyone have any experience with, or used, moccasins for hiking or hunting and can give me some guidance relative to them? I have some chronic foot pain and I need to wear a shoe that does not constrict my feet so I am hoping that maybe a good and sturdy moc may be the answer. Any advise will be appreciated and welcomed.

I hunt often in traditional 1700's era gear. I make most of it, and have found that center-seam deerskin moccasins are super comfortable and very quiet. I use no liner or insoles, but I also do not have any foot issues to worry about. I'm not sure that they would be what you are looking for, since you already have foot pain. Many of my blackpowder friends use Carl Dyer moccasins as they offer more support and warmth. Maybe that's what you're looking for.

You could also check out some minimalist hiking boots. There are number of companies that make them including Merrell and Vivobarefoot. The Vivo's have very flexible thin soles and a wide toe box.
