The Ruffed Grouse Society
Announces The
2nd Annual South Mountain Chapter
Lancaster, Pennsylvania
Field Day
Saturday – April 20th, 2013
At
Swatara State Park
Time: 12:00 p.m.-4:30 p.m.
The South Mountain Chapter would like to invite you to the 2nd Annual Field Day at the Swatara State Park. We will start the day at 12:00 pm with warm welcome and light refreshments at the parking lot off Swopes Valley Road by Wagner Pond just south of State Route 443, see attached map. Once everyone has convened and gotten to know one another we will proceed by foot across the bridge to the treatment area.
Mr. Eric Miller, Chief Public Land Habitat Section of the Pennsylvania Game Commission will provide 5,000 Locust seedlings to be planted in an abandoned coal culm area. The PGC has a limited supply of tools for the job, so if you can bring a shovel or dibble bar for planting the trees it would be appreciated. Also for your protection wear leather gloves and eye protection.
We will then enjoy a late lunch, provided by the Lancaster Chapter. This event is a great opportunity to meet some of the wonderful folks that work for the Commission, interact with sportsman that hunt the area and help on a habitat project. So come and join us, wear work clothes, sturdy boots, bring gloves & a shovel and be prepared for the weather conditions of the day. A field chair or field table might come in handy so that you can eat lunch in comfort.
