I would say not if you're using it for more than 15 min at a time. 2 stroke engines can be a little finicky. They're easier to start if you use them frequently and keep good gas in them. If you're not using it for an extended period of time, drain the gas out, then start it and let it run out of gas. Also, but a quality saw, and it will be more reliable. Stihl and Husquvarna are two of the best. Last but not least, if you're having trouble starting, put fresh gas and a fresh spark plug in. Those are the two main things in a 2 stroke. If that still doesn't work, then you're carb more than likely needs cleaned.
