Out of the box...first three shots 1 1/2 inch group high @ 100 yds. Not a single adjustment made. 9 shots one big hole!! $249.00 out the door with the scope from Dicks.

Sounds like you got a good one. I bought an H&R .243 and at 50 yrds. it's great. at 100yrds. it's less than great. Maybe 6 in. groups

Did you try the cheap Blue Box Federals in your .243? I couldn`t get mine to shoot worth a hoot. I read on the New England / Handi-Rifle Forum, on Greybeard Outdoors , that these were almost always accurate in the .243 Handis. Sure are in mine. I can get 1in. groups.There is also a Handi trouble shooting site at Greybeards.

Bull barrel or regular?
I have one in .308 bull barrel, it's very accurate. Problem is only Remington core loks work in it. Other ammo won't eject.
I had the exact same results gutter buck.....good to 50 after that, better off using it as a tomahawk.....junk
