Gun suggestion?

I am looking for a good caliber to shoot for coyotes. I would also like my kids use this gun down the road for deer. Looking for something that doesn't kick too much. I don't want them shooting my 30.06, as I think that is a bit strong to introduce a kid to hunting.

.243 would work for what you described, as well as others.
.243 was my thoughts as well. The ammo is common and priced ok? Any pump .243s out there?
I would say a 243 or a 260 REM. Can't go wrong either. Much .
Easier to get 243 rounds for less. Unless U load stick with 243.
243 will kill any whitetail or coyote in pa...i started hunting with a pump 270 when i was 12...17 years and a hundred some pounds later, i now carry a small frame 243 for deer.

223 with heavier bullets also plenty for your average deer and any yote with hardly any recoil...plus your kids can practice all day for cheap with the 223. i have a savage model 10 223 for yotes its by far the most accurate gun i own
243 here as well.

.243 is a fine gun but one of my personal favorites is the .222 still leathal for deer w some attention to shot placement. But all listed above are fine choices.
If deer are in the picture, .243.
My Savage Predator 223 worked excellent on an average size buck this year and has many options for coyote/fox. A PA whitetail is not hard to put down with proper shot placement.
I use a .243 for deer and have used it for coyotes, most of the time it is not fur friendly however it is my favorite caliber of any I have tried for our PA sized deer. The .223 or .22-250 are both great coyote calibers and with the right bullet either really are adequate for PA sized deer; meaning you put a partition type bullet from either of these calibers in the neck, head, scapula, or through the vitals and you have a dead deer every single time very often in a very short distance!
Unless you want to save the fur, I'd pick the deer caliber and then just use it onyotes, rather than the other way around. I have nothing against the 243 for deer, but I would go with something like the 260. 7-08, or 257 roberts.

I want the yote caliber. I already have a 30.06 for deer.
In my opinion if you are looking for a strictly coyote gun, the best choice is a 22-250. If fox are an option I would go with a 17 fireball or 17 Remington.
For a combo deer/coyote rifle I would choose a 240 Weatherby Mag. but that's just because I already own one. The 6mm Rem. and 243 Win. would work just as well IMO.
Get a Encore, add barrels for the occasion.
